Degan Ice (Es Degan in Javanese)


Es Degan (Javanese), also wellknown as "Es Kelapa Muda" (Indonesian) is the young coconut ice with sugar syrup. As the tropical area in Indonesia often grew the coconut crop. Almost all over the Indonesian corner was gotten this kind crop. Both in the area of mountains and in the area of the coast. Including also in Yogyakarta. In the Javanese area, especially Central Java and Yogyakarta, the young coconut was often mentioned with "Degan". Usually drank him was mixt with palm sugar (Palm Sugar or coconut palm sugar). Or also could be mixt with syrup of various taste. The seller of ice degan often was met around the Yogyakarta city. Usually his appearance like that could be seen by you in the photograph. The photograph was taken in the Oblique area, at the edge of the railway rails that headed to the side of the Lempuyangan station. Very lovely if being consumed during the day that was hot, by being mixt ice cubes. Have a nice tried......!
